Be a part of a historic find – sports memorabilia was hidden away for more than a decade in an Orlando storage unit, until the unit was abandoned and College Hunks Hauling Junk uncovered this unique treasure trove. Instead of keeping the items for themselves, the owners of College Hunks decided to donate their discovery to a local non-profit. They invited organizations to submit essays outlining what they would do with the items. A science teacher at Dr. Phillips High School saw the contest and entered her idea to use this collection from athletes of the past as a means to help athletes of the future. Dr Phillips High School was chosen as the recipient and the “Play It Forward” Auction and Scholarship Fund was established.
A link to the copy of the original news story about the items and the winning essay is posted below. Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, FL is an urban high school where 60% of the 3600 students are minorities and over 69 languages are spoken on campus. For many students, the only way to further their education is through a combination of sports and academics and this scholarship and your generous bids will help accomplish this. Thank you for participating.

Each item comes with a Certificate of Authenticity that was issued at the time of signing. Some of the items show evidence of the years in storage with slight discoloration or small areas of staining (as noted on each item). So why bid? What we can guarantee is that these items now have a provenance that includes their exciting discovery in an abandoned warehouse which included national news coverage, their subsequent generous donation to Dr. Phillips High School and the possibility that the funds raised by their purchase could result in helping to further the academic and athletic careers of some very deserving young athletes. That history makes this memorabilia……priceless!
